Tungenes Lighthouse was lit in 1828 when the herring trade needed a safe entrance to the harbour in Stavanger. The lighthouse master’s house is from 1938, his assistant’s house from 1957-58. There is an annex, machinery shed and boathouse. Tungenes Lighthouse is today protected and restored back to its 1930s appearance.
Jeg er svak for bilder av fyr, og her var settingen ekstra bra 🙂

Thanks a bunch! When we went out I didn’t think we were going to get anything out of the sunset and was pleasantly surprised by this lovely pink colour. Even without the sunset it is a beautiful spot to walk along the coast and the light house is a beautiful spot. Thanks for your lovely comment Doda:)

The subtle colours caught my eye in this photo. As did the subject matter — lighthouses hold a special place in the hearts of those who grow up by the sea. So many have been lost or abandoned in favour of new technology — good to see that some are being restored.

I couldn’t agree more Sally. I am so happy that some of the old lighthouses are being restored, too many have been abandoned and lost. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment:)

great to have found your blog. My sister in law lives in Tromso and I love the landscape (and seascape!) of this part of the world.

Happy you found me Ann! I guess you have been to Norway several times already with your sister living in Tromsø (which the locals call Paris of the North).

Hi Inger … Your website is wonderful and I look forward to following your photographic journey. I took a short drive around the Tungenes Headland on Google Maps after seeing this image – couldn’t get right up to the lighthouse but the countryside and houses are beautiful. You live in a very scenic place. Also thank you for following my blog – Wes

Thank you so much for taking interest in my blog Wes! A pleasure to have you here. Yes – the area around Tungenes is a lovely spot. It is close to the city of Stavanger, but still an area where you have some older structures and possibilities for lovely walks along the coast. I am hoping to explore this are in more detail this fall.

Thank you so much! This lighthouse was originally built back in 1828, so fairly old:)
